Doctor Who Challenge - Favorite Episode: MidnightWhile I love so many episodes of Doctor Who, Midnight is my favorite because it stands for everything that I love about Doctor Who.It’s not about scary monsters, big effects or a grand setting. It takes place in one shuttle. No special effects … just a few actors. Nothing more. It is hilariously funny in the beginning in a rather subversive way. RTD manages to entertain, yet at the same time points out how ridiculous our need to be constantly entertained is in fact. And then suddenly … something knocks. We never find out what it is and it’s not even important. Because it is not about the monster. It’s all about our reaction to it. The monster can’t even move. All it has is a voice. Such a wonderful study of human behaviour .. of our need to get rid of anything we don’t understand and thus fear. And then there is the doctor: “No one is killing anyone.”“That’s a brand new life form over there and if it’s come inside to discover us, then what’s it found? This little bunch of humans .. what do you amount to? … murder? cause this is what you decide. You decide who you are. Could you actually murder? Any of you? Or are you better than that?”Because THAT is the doctor. (not some guy who tricks a life form he doesn’t even understand and uses their own words out of context to convince the human race to commit genocide. Wtf moffat? )And can I just mention the end! The way Donna understands the doctor. RTD .. you are a genius.

GPOY AND MORE. This is a bottle episode: just a ship and some people. And it’s so…BRILLIANT. So is Colin Morgan *ahem*.
